Amazing Food is Coming This Week - For Sure This Time

I always feel like I do not have enough time to sit down and write about the company I love so much. Today, I wanted to discuss the trials and tribulations and give you all some great news. As many of you know, we lost our food partner of two years, Four Mile Pig, in June. We were really sad to see them go and we hope they are doing well in their current endeavor.

We spent the summer interviewing, meeting, and, ultimately, choosing our new restaurant partner, The Peculiar Grill. This was not an easy choice for us to make as at one point we had four separate companies trying to partner with us. There was a lot to like about all of them, each bringing a fresh perspective and a unique menu. We moved forward with The Peculiar Grill because due to several factors, with the biggest reasons being quality, healthy options, and a commitment to family friendly. I personally feel the last shows with their kids’ menu. We wanted a partner, not someone who simply pays us rent. I feel like that is exactly what we got with The Peculiar Grill.

We started our partnership in early August with the plan of them being open for our anniversary celebration (09/12/2020). Unfortunately, that did not happen. There were lots of problems they did not expect to encounter, the biggest being getting and installing an exhaust hood system in the middle of a global pandemic. Everything took longer than anyone anticipated. The hood system finally arrived towards the middle of September but the exhaust fan on it was not up to Kentucky’s code. Our good friends at Teegarden HVAC worked tirelessly to get everything right but COVID-19 struck again. Something that normally takes 5-7 days took almost 4 weeks to arrive. Once here, the fittings did not line up right. Typically, this wouldn’t be a problem but the hole left in the side of the building by our previous tenant was where the exhaust fan needed to go and the duct work had to be welded in per Kentucky code. Teegarden, again, really stepped up and had pieces custom fabricated. Last week, all the inspections were lined up and The Peculiar Grill was set to open on 10/16/2020. However, when they were inspected by the county building inspector, they were required to add another wall to their hood system to ensure smoke and steam would exit. As of yesterday, they have passed electrical, county, and fire. They have the Health Department’s inspection today. I am extremely confident that the inspection will pass without a problem as the staff at The Peculiar Grill has shown that they are incredibly diligent.

With all of that said, I am so happy to announce that we are scheduling The Peculiar Grill’s grand opening this Friday, 10/23/2020. If you are one of the few that actually read this entire thing, I want to reward you by letting you know their soft opening starts today and will go through Thursday. They have their grill fired up and it smells amazing in here! I promise you, this has all been worth the wait. We hope to see you soon!
